The pay of Ministers Plenipotentiary is $9,000 per annum, as salary, besides $9,000 for outfit. The pay of Chargés d'Affaires is $4,500 per annum; of Secretaries of Legation, $2,000; of Ministers Resident, $6,000. The government of the United States is represented by Ministers Plenipotentiary at the Courts of Great Britain, France, Russia, Prussia, Austria, Spain, Brazil, and Mexico; and by Chargés d'Affaires at the Courts of most of the other foreign countries with which this country is much connected by commercial intercourse.
