HIS IGNORANCE, Job 8.9. We are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow.

Job 11.7. Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? 8. It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know? 12. Vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.

Job 28.12. Where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? 13. Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living. 20. Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding? 21. Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living.

Job 36.26. God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. 29. Can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?

Job 37.5. God thundereth marvellously with his voice: great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. 15. Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his clond to shine? 16. Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? 19. Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. 20. The Almighty, we cannot find him out. Job c. 38 & 39.

Psa. 139.6. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Pro. 27.1. Thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Pro. 30.4. Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

Ecc. 3.11. No man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the

end.

Ecc. 7.23. I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me. 24. That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?

Ecc. 8.6. The misery of man is great upon him. 7. For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?

cannot find out the work that is done under
the sun because though a man labour to
seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea,
further, though a wise man think to know it,
yet shall he not be able to find it.

Ecc. 9.12.

Man also knoweth not his time. Ecc. 11.5. As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

Jno. 13.7. What I do thou knowest not

1 Cor. 13.9. We know in part, and we pro-
phesy in part. 12. Now we see through a
glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I
know in part.

Rev. 5.2. Who is worthy to open the book,
and to loose the seals thereof? 3. And no man
in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the
earth, was able to open the book, neither to
look thereon.

Job 9.2. How should man be just with
God? 3. If he will contend with him, he can-
not answer him one of a thousand. 20. If I

me perverse.

ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.

Job 11.12. Vain man would be wise, though
man be born like a wild ass's colt.

Job 14.4. Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Job 15.14. What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? 15. Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight. 16. How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

Job 25.4. How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? 5. Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. 6. How much less man, that is a The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see it there were any that did understand, and seek

v. 1.

Psa. 51.5. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Psa. 58.2. In heart ye work wickedness. 3. The wicked are estranged from the womb : they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. 4. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear; 5. Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

Psa. 94.11. The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Psa. 119.96. I have seen an end of all perfection.

Psa. 130.3. If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

Psa. 143.2. In thy sight shall no man living be justified.

Pro. 10.20. The heart of the wicked is little worth.

Fro. 20.9. Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? Pro. 21.8. The way of man is froward and strange.

Ecc. 7.20. There is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. 29. God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions. 2 Chr. 6.36.

Isa. 1.5. The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. v. 6.

Isa. 42.7. To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Isa. 43.8. The blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

Isa. 48.8. Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. Isa. 53.6. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way.

Isa. 64.6. We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Jer. 2.22. Though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord God.

Jer. 13.23. Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

Jer. 16.12. Ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may

not hearken unto me.

Jer. 17.9. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Eze. 16.6. When I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live. Eze.

37.1-3.

Eze. 36.25. From all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away

the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

Hos. 6.7. They like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

Mat. 12.34. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Mat. 15.19. Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. Mar. 7. 21-23.

Luk. 1.79. To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.

Jno. 3.19. This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Jno. 8.23. Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world.

Jno. 14.17. The Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him.

Act. 8.23. Thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

Rom. 2.1. Thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Rom. 3.9. Are we better than they? No, in no wise for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin 19. That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 23. All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Rom. 5.12. Death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 13. For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression.

Rom. 6.6. Our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 19. Ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; 20. When ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. v. 17.

Rom. 7.5. When we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. 11. Sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 13. Sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. 14. I am carnal, sold under sin. 15. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

18. I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me: but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21. I find then a law, that,

when I would do good, evil is present with me. 23. I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 25. With the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Rom. 8.5. They that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh. 6. To be carnally minded is death. 7. The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Rom. 8.13. If ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Rom. 11.17. Thou, being a wild olive-tree. 1 Cor. 2.14. The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1 Cor. 3.3. Ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Cor. 5.9. Not to company with fornicators: 10. Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

2 Cor. 5.14. If one died for all, then were all dead.

Gal. 3.10. As many as are of the works of the law are under the curse. 11. No man is justified by the law in the sight of God. 22. The scripture hath concluded all under sin.

Gal. 5.17. The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 19. The works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20. Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21. Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like.

Eph. 2.1. You hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. 3. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Eph. 2.12. At that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.

v. 11.

Eph. 4.17. Walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19. Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 22. Put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts. Eph. 5.8. Ye were sometimes darkness. 14. Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead.

Col. 1.13. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness. 21. You, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works.

Col. 2.13. You being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh.

Col. 3.5. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 7. In the which ye also walked sometime, when ye lived in them.

2 Tim. 2.26. That they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Tit. 3.3. We ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Jas. 3.2. In many things we offend all. Jas. 4.5. The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy.

1 Pet. 1.18. Your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers.

1 Pet. 2.9. Who hath called you out of darkness. 25. Ye were as sheep going astray. 1 Pet. 3.19. Spirits in prison. 2 Pet. 1.4. Having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 1 Jno. 1.8. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in 10. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 Jno. 2.16. All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

us.

1 Jno. 3.10. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

1 Jno. 5.19. The whole world lieth in wickedness.

Rev. 3.17. Thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
