Mat. And when his disciples were come to the other side,
they had forgotten to take bread.

Mar. Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread,
Mar. Neither had they in the ship with them more than
one loaf.

Mar. And he charged them, saying, Take heed,

Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

Mat. Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed,

And beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees.

Mat. And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

Mar. And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

Mar. And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them,
Why reason ye, because ye have no bread?
Mat. Which, when Jesus perceived, he said unto them,
O ye of little faith, why reason ye among your
selves because ye have brought no bread?
Mat. Do ye not understand, neither remember

The five loaves of the five thousand, and how
many baskets ye took up?

Mar. Perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened? Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up?

Mar. They say unto him, Twelve.

Mat. Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

Mar. And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up?

Mar. And they said, Seven.

Mar. And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

Mat. How is it that ye do not understand?

Mat. That I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye
should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of
the Sadducees? Then understood they how that he
bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of
the doctrine of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees.

Saying, Whom do men say that I, the Son of man, am?

As he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them,

Saying, Whom say the people that I am? Mat. And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist, some Elias,

And others Jeremias, or one of the prophets. Mar. And they answered, John the Baptist, but some say Elias;

And others one of the prophets. 19 Luke They answering, said, John the Baptist; but some say Elias; And others say that one of the old prophets is risen again.

20 Luke He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
Mar. And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou
art the Christ.

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art
Christ the Son of the living God.

Mat. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven : and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven.

Mat. Then charged he his disciples, that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Mar. And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

21 Luke And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing.

22 Luke saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, And be rejected of the elders, and chief priests, and scribes,

And be slain, and be raised the third day. Mar. And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things,

And be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes,

And be killed, and after three days rise again, Mat. From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things

Mar. But when he had turned about, and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying,

Mar. For thou savourest not the things that be of God,
But the things that be of men.

Mat. For thou savourest not the things that be of God,
But those that be of men.

Sect. 71. In the country of Cæsarea Philippi Jesus declares that he will judge the world. Mar. And when he had called the people unto him, with nis disciples also, he said unto them,

Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself,

And leadeth them up into an high mountain
apart by themselves.

John his brother,

And bringeth them up into an high mountain,apart,
Mat. And was transhigured before them, and his face did

shine as the sun,

And his raiment was white as the light.
Mar. And he was transfigured before them.

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow: so as no fuller on earth can white them.

29 Luke And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was

Luke And spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter, and they that were with him, were heavy with sleep; and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

Mar. For he wist not what to say, for they were sore afraid.
Mar. And there was a cloud that overshadowed them.
Mat. While he yet spake, behold a bright cloud oversha-
dowed them.

34 Luke While he thus spake, there came a cloud and over-
shadowed them:

Luke And they feared as they entered into the cloud.

35 Luke And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying,

And one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Mat. And let us make three tabernacles; one for thee,
And one for Moses, and one for Elias.
LukeAnd let us make three tabernacles; one for thee,
And one for Moses, and one for Elias:

This is my beloved Son, hear him.
Mar. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying,
This is my beloved Son, hear him.

Mat. And behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said,
This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased; hear ye him.

Mat. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. Mat, And when they had lift up their eyes, they saw no

nan save Jesus only.

Mar. And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

36 Luke And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. Mat. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying,

Tell the vision to no man,

Until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

Mar. And as they came down from the mountain, he char ged them

That they should tell no man what things they had seen,

Till the Son of man were risen from the dead.

Luke And they kept it close, and told no man in those
days any of those things which they had seen,
Mar. And they kept that saying with themselves.

Mar. Questioning (or rather debating) one with another, what the rising from the dead should mean.
