again in the discussions of the Convention, the Committee submit the following as the additions and changes which they respectfully propose for adoption. It will be seen that they are classified and arranged with references, for the sake of convenience, to the Book which is annexed as a schedule to this Report, and which the Committee venture to hope will not only serve the purpose just mentioned, but will also show (as their long list of alterations and additions, if reported alone, would not do,) how little real change is proposed in the structure, arrangement, appearance, or even size of our cherished Book of Common Prayer.

The Committee recommend that the changes embodied in the following Resolutions be approved, and made known to the various Dioceses, in order that they may be adopted hereafter, in the manner provided by the Constitution.

Throughout this Report S. P. B. signifies the

Standard Prayer-Book of 1871. B. A. signifies the Book Annexed.

RESOLUTION I.

Resolved: The House of Bishops [or Deputies] concurring, That the following changes be made in connection with

(a) Omit from the title-page the words together with the Psalter, or Psalms of David," putting a full stop after the word AMERICA.

(b) On the first page of the leaf preceding the title-page print the general title,

(a) Conform the entries in the Table of
Contents to the actual contents, as the same
shall be finally determined.

(b) Substitute for The Order how the Psal-
ter is appointed to be read, and for The Order
how the rest of the Holy Scripture is appointed
to be read, the general order Concerning the
Service of the Church, including an enlarged
Table of Proper Psalms and a Table of Selec-
tions of Psalms, as shown in B. A., pp. ix, x.

(c) Add to the Calendar a Feast to be enti-
tled, The Transfiguration of Christ, and assign
the same to the eighteenth day of January.

(d) Substitute for the present Lectionary the
-xvi Lectionary contained in B. A., pp. xi-xix.*

(e) After the first paragraph of Rules to
know when the Movable Feasts and Holy-days
begin, insert as follows:

But Note that the Full Moon, for the purposes of
these Rules and Tables, is the Fourteenth Day of a
Lunar Month, reckoned according to an ancient
Ecclesiastical computation, and not the real or Astro-
nomical Full Moon.

(f) Insert in The Table of Feasts, after the
words The Epiphany, the words The Transfig-
uration of Christ, and after the words St.
Barnabas, the words the Apostle.

with the Lectionary recommended by the Joint Committee on the Re-
vision of the Lectionary,

(g) Substitute for the present eight Tables S.P.B. for finding Easter-day, the Dominical Letter, etc., the six Tables given in B. A., pp. xxi–xxiv.

THE ORDER FOR

DAILY MORNING PRAYER, and that the proposed alterations be made known to the several Dioceses, in order that they may be adopted in the next General Convention, in accordance with the provisions of Article VIII of the Constitution.

(a) Alter the first rubric so that it shall read:

:

¶ The Minister shall begin the MORNING PRAYER by reading one or more of the following Sentences of Scripture; and then he shall say that which is written after them; save that on Christmas-day, Easter-day, and Whitsun-day, and on any day not a Lord's Day, he may omit the Exhortation, and proceed to bid the People to prayer at the Confession, or, except on days of fasting and abstinence, at the Lord's Prayer.

(b) Omit from the opening Sentences the pp. 1,2 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th and 14th, and insert the following,-Ps. cxxii. 1; Phil. i. 2; Isai. xl. 3; St. Luke ii. 10, 11; Isai. lii. 1; Lam. i. 12; Ps. cxviii. 24; and portions of St. Mark

sentences.

(d) Substitute with for after, in the rubric before the General Confession.

(e) Substitute for the present alternative Declaration of Absolution, the form inserted in B. A. p. 4.

(f) Alter the rubric before the Lord's Prayer, so that it shall read :

Then the Minister shall kneel, and say the Lord's
Prayer; the People still kneeling, and repeating_it
with him, both here, and wheresoever else it is in this
Book appointed to be used, save at beginning of the
Communion Office.

(g) Alter the rubric before the Venite, so that it shall read :

Then shall be sung or said this Psalm following; except on the Feasts for which Proper Anthems are appointed, and on the six days next before Easter. But Note, That, save on the Sundays in Lent, the latter portion of the Venite may be omitted.

(h) Omit from the Venite the two verses taken from Psalm xcvi.; leave an open space, and append the last four verses of Psalm xcv.

(i) Change the rubric following the Venite, so that it shall read :

¶Then shall follow a Portion of the Psalms, as they are appointed, or one of the Selections of Psalms. And at the end of every Psalm, and likewise at the end of the Venite, Benedictus Dominus Deus,
