Absolution.

LORD, we beseech Thee, absolve

thy people from their offences; that through thy bountiful goodness we may all be delivered from the bands of those sins which by our frailty we have committed. Grant this, O heavenly Father, for Jesus Christ's sake, our blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

GOD, who hast given unto us the night for rest, grant that the sleep which we hope to enjoy may be consecrated to thy service, by refreshing our wearied bodies, and enabling us to do thy will

General Evening Prayer.

LORD Jesus Christ, to whose unwearying goodness we owe all things that we enjoy ; who dost make the sun to shine alike on the evil and the good, that they may do their daily work; and hast given the silence of night, that men may rest their weary limbs in peace: we pray Thee of thy wonted mercy to forgive whatever we have done amiss in thy sight this day; and grant that to-night we may be blessed with thy favor, pure through thy keeping, and safe beneath thy protection from the snares of the Devil, that so sleep may make us both in body and in soul more vigorous
