*Decrease chiefly accounted for by decreased expenditures for maintenance of Poles, Lines and Services.
Decrease chiefly accounted for by lower maintenance of Street Lamp equipment substituted for Arc Lamps. Also several thousand dollars for
carbons and globes were charged when purchased and before being used in 1915, while during the latter part of 1916 they were carried in stores and
not charged until used.

Decrease chiefly accounted for by the Inventory adjustment (see Schedule E-4). The stores were not brought under proner control until after
the completion of the audit during the latter part of the year. The inventory taken at the end of 1916 showed that over $14.000 00 was charged out
of stores in excess of the sum of the inventory at the beginning and the purchases made during the year. This was largely due to materials having
been returned to stores without being reported and charged back. For 1915 this inventory adjustment could not be made because no inventory at the
beginning of 1915 was preserved nor raised on the books and hence the xpenses for 1915 were overstated in the amount by which they may have
been affected by the 1915 inventory adjustment (could it have been determined) and which was buried in the inventory adjustment deducted from the
Capital Assets as at January 1, 1915.
