PREFACE.

HE World has been already entertain'd with the Tryals of those Gentlemen, who have been charg'd with High Treason, against the feveral de facto or de jure Governments, that have fucceeded each other in this Kingdom, in the last three Centuries.

But it would have added much to the Satisfaction of the Reader, I perceive, if he had been inform'd which of them were Executed, and how they behav'd in their laft Moments: I have therefore not only Collected the Dying Speeches and Behaviour of the most Eminent amongst them, but their refpective Characters, from the greateft Hands,
