10th. A beautiful shower of snow, with large flakes, at 10 A. M. Evening fine.

14th. Coid this morning. Wind during the day swung round from N. E’ly, through the E., to S’ly.

17th. Storm somewhat abated, but still heavy. The amount of rain on the 16th and 17th somewhat uncertain, in consequence of one rain-gauge being blown from its place and the other leaking. It was not less than two inches, probably more.

19th. In the afternoon, wind high S. E’ly and very raw. Sprinkling of rain at 10 P. M.

20th. Rain, and snow in large heavy flakes which sometimes quite covered the ground.

rora at the north, without streamers. A little
before 10 P. M., a well-defined, luminous belt, from
22 to 3° in width, was observed stretching across
the heavens from N. W. to S. E., reaching in either
direction to within about 30° of the horizon. It
had a slow motion S’ly, and disappeared in some
twenty-five or thirty minutes after it was first
noticed. The mid heavens being quite clear at
the time, the belt was a conspicuous and beauti-
ful object.

2d. Sprinkling of rain at intervals. A brisk thundershower between 6 and 7 P. M. Fires quite comfortable.

3d Mist, with occasional sprinkling of rain. 4th. Pleasant, though cool. Evening very clear. 5th. Pleasant.

6th. Very fine. Very brilliant aurora, which continued through the night.

7th. Warm and very damp. Brilliant aurora visible this morning between 3 and 4 o'clock.

8th. Sultry. Sprinkling of rain in the morning. Clear in the afternoon and evening.

9th and 10th. Pleasant.
11th. Extremely hot and sultry at mid-day.

12th. Extremely hot. Sprinkling of rain from 8 to 9 P. M.

13th. Very hot till 4 P. M., when we had a fine shower, with light thunder. Wind came round to N. E., and grew cooler fast; showers continued. At 10 P. M., the thermometer stood at 59°, having fallen 29° in eight hours.

14th. At 6 A. M., the thermometer stood at 48°; at 9 A. M., at 52' in the shade and exposed to a current of air, having varied through 10° in sixteen hours.

15th. White frost this morning in some places in this vicinity. The day cool, but pleasant.

16th. Very fine.
17th. Very fine. Evening cool. Fires necessary.
18th. Very fine.

19th. Very fine; the top of the ground quite dry.

20th. Very pleasant; burning sun at mid-day.

21st. Wind came to N. E. from 6 to 7 P. M., with moderate rain.

22d. Cloudy, but no rain.
23d. Rain in the evening.
24th. Air very dry and clear.
25th. Very fine.

26th. Air raw in the afternoon. Sprinkling of rain in the evening.

27th. Morning rainy. Clouds broken in the afternoon. Rain again during the night.

28th. A good deal of mist, without rain.

29th. Light rain in the morning. Remarkable aurora of red light, which was very brilliant at 742 P. M., forming a splendid crown of light a little south of the zenith.

30th. Pleasant.
