This collection of sermons definitely rivals Lloyd-Jones' "Sermon on the Mount" for 'classic' status. Here is a book that certainly epitomizes Lloyd-Jones' definition of preaching as "Logic on fire". Many preachers talk a lot about expository preaching--Lloyd Jones did it. Many speak about the need to get back to the Word of God--Lloyd-Jones camped there. If it sounds peculiar to anyone that in this collection are 48 sermons on one chapter of Scripture (John 17), join the club (I did as well). But what a tremendous blessing each one is. There is no redundancy here. This is the Word of God being exposited by a very gifted individual. I HIGHLY recommend!

Not a verse-by-verse exposition; misleading description

This is a wonderful book by a wonderful author, but it isn't even close to a verse-by-verse exposition as the description claims. This is more of an elaboration of the text, very verbose, superfluous and wordy. This isn't something you would want to use as study material. I purchased this book because the description claims it is an exposition of John 17, but the description is misleading.
